About me!

 Hey everyone! Welcome to my blog. I thought I would start everything off with a little introduction. My name is Rebecca Astorga and I currently live in the Pacific Northwest (PNW). I moved here from Southern California in 2012 and fell in love with the whole atmosphere. I have three kids that keep me busy the majority of the time. I am also completing my Master’s Program in Integrative Nutrition at Bastyr University (Yay!). 

I am so excited to be here with everyone! I haven’t always had the best palate, as I was the pickiest eater as a child (just ask my mom). I didn’t like anything green or healthy for me. I refused to eat if something green touched my other food and I pretended to faint when I would eat broccoli. I guess that you can say I was a little dramatic. 

I didn’t start getting into food until I actually met my husband and wanted to try and impress him with my cooking skills. Needless to say, there were A LOT of mistakes made. But throughout the years, I started enjoying cooking and making up my own variations of recipes, and he now compliments my cooking. I’ll take that as a win. 

Majority of the recipes you will see here are a mixture of Mexican and American cuisines. With that being said, I LOVE my spices. A meal is not a meal without them. My favorites are cinnamon, cayenne pepper, and paprika, which will practically be in every recipe. It is okay to omit these or lower the amounts, to please your palate.
